Restaurant-Style Mashed Potatoes

I have always struggled with making mashed potatoes from scratch. I usually mash the potatoes and mix it with milk and tons of seasoning and it always tastes incredibly bland. So I hunted for a recipe to try, and these potatoes were amazing and super easy to make!

Ingredients
5 red potatoes (about 1.5 lbs)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened

1. Chop and boil potatoes

Wash potatoes and chop them into large chunks.

Place them in a large pot and completely submerge them in water. Stir in 1 tsp of salt. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes.

2. Mix Ingredients

While potatoes are boiling, place pepper, garlic powder, butter, Parmesan cheese, sour cream, and remaining salt into a mixing bowl (if you have a Kitchenaid, use this).

When potatoes pierce easily with a paring knife, remove from heat and drain. Place potatoes in mixing bowl and use electric mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes.

These mashed potatoes will be chunky, but that tastes just fine to me! These seriously tasted just like I'd ordered them at a restaurant. It was amazing! I had no idea that sour cream is the secret ingredient for perfect mashed potatoes.
